Lawson

Lawson’s first visit with me was when she was  just a few weeks old, and now she’s one. She is such a happy baby.

Devin Kinney (Senior)

It’s always good idea to incorporate things or people in your senior pictures that mean something to you. Devin wanted a picture of him and his truck. I remember when I was his age, my truck was a big deal to me. I bet I washed that truck 5 times a week. We also went to his family farm and photographed him by a barn that his grandad built years ago. Devin actually does some farming also, so  we pulled out the John Deer and did a few.

INSIDE THE WILDSIDE

Some of you may not know that I have been in Video Production for around sixteen years, which is about three years longer than I have been in Photography. Almost 2 years ago I began filming my son and many others hunting and fishing, and coming this October we have an Outdoor tv program that will be aired on local cable in Millington and Covington. The program is called Inside the Wildside. You can find out more about the program by going to insidethewildside.com. We will keep you posted on airtimes. Watch this video and you will see why I usually stay behind the camera.

Trista Rivers Senior from Brownsville

Trista’s mother was so excited to see her pictures so  we told her we could put a few on the blog until her pictures were ready for viewing. Here are a few images from that day.

Alisha Beavers son Brett

Brett was a joy to work with. Not every kid his age is eager to be photographed, but he was willing to do what ever we asked of him. On every session  we try to give you a wide variety of images, everything from looking and smiling to running and playing and letting them do what ever is natural to them. I personally like the natural look where they do what ever they want. A lot of times you will pick up on little mannerisms that scream personality. My favorite image is this first black and white image. It is timeless. It’s in style now and it will be in style 50 years from now.

Often imitated but never duplicated!

I’ve been around photography my whole life, but never had a real interest in it until my late 20’s. If you know me you probably know my father, Richard Ramsey. I have been in a unique situation. How many people can say that they had the top photographer in the state of Tn. to be their teacher. I opened my studio in 1995 and business has grown every year. I attribute that to several things, first, God’s blessings on my life. Second, having a supportive wife and family. If it wasn’t for Cendi and her sacrifices I definitely would not be here today. Third is my father. My Dad is “photographer of the year” in the whole state of Tn. Sounds like a big deal, but he has been that at least a dozen times. He outscores some of the biggest names in photography.  Over the years he has shared his knowledge and passion with me, not many people would do that. After being in the business for only 2 years, my photography lab told me that the quality of my work was equal to that of someone who has been in the business for 20 years.  What amazes me about my dad is, he never stops learning. We are in a digital age now, there is no more film!! Most people my dad’s age would not go to digital because it was too much of a learning curve and they would just stick with film. Not Dad! He is sought after from people all over the United States to share his knowledge of the new digital age. He has just started speaking at photography conventions and the response is overwhelming. He gets standing ovations everywhere he speaks. So Dad, if you read this blog, I want to thank you for your investment in me. Not only with photography but with your life.  Dad and I talk every day, and the subject matter can be about our Christian walk, our studios, golf, or just shooting the breeze. Dad, just know that I love you, and appreciate everything you have done for me. You are imitated by many, but you will never be duplicated!!

Aiden Bowie session

This is Rachael Bowie’s 1 yr old son. This is Aiden’s final session being on our children’s program. A child changes more in his first year than any other time in his life. That’s why it is so important that you photograph him often. He went from a tiny little baby in a crib to a little boy running around. Time flys. If you have children you know what I mean. Just yesterday my wife and I were discussing where my son was going to school, and before you know it, he’s 13 going on 21, Wow. Be sure to cherish each moment.  Because one day your going to miss this.

Shane and Paula Maxwell’s Children

I don’t now what the deal is. The last 2 weeks I have photographed 3 sets of 2 year old twins. Paula’s by far had the most energy! The second they hit the ground they were running wide open. Paula was in the process of changing their clothes and I looked at them without shirts I told her that looks pretty cute. So we let them run and do what ever they wanted to. They began to throw rocks in the water so I took this image. Years from now they will look back at this and it will bring back wonderful memories.

Clair Fountains nephew

Clair Fountain has a beautiful yard. I use it quiet often. Her nephew and his family came down from Moscow, Tn. While they were here we photographed there family. Here are a few images from that sesssion.

Arlyn Glass

Arlyn is the daughter of Brian and Jenifer Glass of Covington. They have 4 children and Arlyn is the baby, she is 2. I have photographed each of their children at this age. The secret to capturing a beautiful image of Arlyn was BUBBLE GUM!! On picture day is one of the few times in their life that you give them what ever they want HA!

Ashley and Hank

Ashley worked for me a couple of years ago. She is now married and has a one year old little girl. We went to an outdoor location that I have been going to for several years. There are 2 geese that live there, and in 5 years I have been able to get close to them only a few times. Hank walks out to the water and the goose walks up to him and allows him to rub him. What’s the deal? I told Ashley to run over there and get beside them and I took a few images. It turned out pretty neat. Sometimes the best pictures are the ones you were not planning on. Anyway, Hank’s new name is the “The Goose Whisperer.”

Kacey McCalla’s Family

Kacey told me 6 or 7 weeks ago that she had a job for me to do, an almost impossible job. She wanted me to photograph 9 grandchildren for her mother. I told her no problem and then she told me the ages and I took a big breath and said Wow! So we went to the location and started with a simple pose. One of the smaller children began to cry and it was like a virus, 2 more began to cry. So I figured out real quick the best shot we would have would be more of a interaction shot of the kids. It turned out pretty good and it is more of a timeless look. We broke off and did some individual groups of the kids also.  All in all I believe we got some beautiful images that they will cherish.
